Abstract

Introduction: From the first year of training as a doctor, we are taught the importance of specializing. I was no exception, and from a very early age I dreamed of becoming a specialist in critical care medicine, known as intensive care. In Mexico, to achieve this, you must go through a core specialty such as internal medicine, anesthesiology, emergency medicine or general surgery, depending on the location. To do so, you must take a knowledge exam called ENARM. After evaluating the pros and cons of each specialty, I decided on emergency medicine, since there I would have the opportunity to learn a little bit of everything about patients.
