Abstract

The placement of pleural catheters in the treatment of traumatic hemothorax is the basis of treatment, there are different techniques that have improved the approach and reduced the complication rate, the use of percutaneous techniques and the adoption of multipurpose catheters have also improved the prognosis of these patients, in this case we have used a 14 French catheter for pneumothorax successfully, without complications, and without requiring other interventions to drain a massive hemothorax.

 La colocación de catéteres endopleurales en el tratamiento del hemotórax traumático es la base del tratamiento, existen diferentes técnicas que han mejorado el abordaje y reducido la tasa de complicaciones, el uso de técnicas percutáneas y la adopción de catéteres multipropósito han mejorado también
el pronóstico de estos pacientes, en este caso hemos utilizado un catéter 14 French para neumotórax con éxito, sin complicaciones, y sin requerir otras intervenciones para drenar un hemotórax masivo.
